You have to see the Great Barrier Reef
Australia is a place where we can admire the world on land but also underwater. The most my attention pays the Great Barrier Reef which intimidated with its color and diversity.
- What is it?
This is the largest underwater structure of living organisms in the world. It is written on the World Heritage Sites and Culture and Wildlife of UNESCO. It is also considered one of the seven wonders of the world. It is located in the Coral Sea off the Australian coast of Queensland. It is created by millions of tiny coral polyps and not only and the reef is about 20 million years old. . It is larger than the Great Wall of China(stretches for over 2,300 kilometres so it's almost distance between Poland and Spain in a straight line)and the only living thing on earth visible from space.
- Why do you have to see it before your death?
The reef is inhabited by many different species of animals and plants. It is their home and at the same time shelter from predators. Apart from sea snakes and fabulously colorful fish you might be lucky to see great sharks and dolphins. The bottom is decorated with colorful starfish, crustaceans and sea urchins. Sea grass in the reef is also a paradise for sea cows and turtles. It worth to see it on your own eyes.
The Great Coral Reef is a paradise for diving fans. You don't have to be a professional diver. In many places there are calm and shallow spots which are perfect for the first struggle with water and deep for people who already have experience. You can also watch the Great Barrier for example during the boat trip or helicopter tours. If you choose a helicopter you will admire the reef from the bird's eye view. In spite of the extraordinary views you can't touch anything, because there are also virulent animals.
The cost of the trip is estimated at 95 to 250 Australian dollars per person so I think this is a great idea for a wedding gift or for a 18th birthday.
